Merging is simple, but a few habits save you from sending pages in the wrong order.
Merge in four steps
- Open Merge PDF and add your files. You can drop several at once.
- Put them in order with the arrows next to each file. The first file in the list becomes the first pages of the result.
- Press Process.
- Download the merged PDF and scroll through it once before you send it.

Name files so they sort themselves
Add a number at the start of each file name, such as 01-cover.pdf, 02-cv.pdf, 03-certificates.pdf. When you select them all together, most computers hand them over in that order, and you only need to check, not rearrange.
How many files can I merge?
Guests can merge up to 5 files at once, with files of up to 10 MB each. With a free account you can merge up to 20 files of up to 50 MB each. Pages are combined exactly as they are: nothing is re-compressed or resized.
Fix the order after merging
If one page ended up in the wrong place, you do not need to start again. Use Reorder PDF Pages to type the new order, for example 3,1,2,4-z, or to reverse the whole document, which is handy when a scanner fed the pages backwards.
Keep it small enough to send
Merged files add up. If the result is too big for email, continue straight into Compress PDF: when a tool finishes, the “Continue with” panel sends the result onward without downloading and uploading it again. Our guide to shrinking a PDF for email explains which level to pick.
