About Image Compressor
The image compressor reduces the file size of JPG, PNG and WebP pictures right in your browser. You can compress by quality, from 10 to 95 percent, or type a target size in KB and let the tool search for the highest quality that fits. You can also cap the longest side in pixels and choose JPG or WebP as the output format.
Nothing is uploaded, so private photos and documents stay on your device. Add up to 40 images at a time, each up to 60 MB, and compare the original with the result using the slider when you process a single file. If a result would not be smaller, the original is kept and you are told so.

Frequently asked questions
What quality setting should I choose for compressing images?
A quality between 70 and 80 percent often looks very close to the original while giving a much smaller file. Check the before and after slider, and lower the value only if the result still looks clean.
How do I compress an image to a specific size like 200 KB?
Switch Compression to the target file size option and enter the number of KB. The tool tries different qualities and, if needed, reduces the dimensions a little until the file fits under the limit.
Why did my PNG barely get smaller?
PNG is a lossless format, so it cannot be shrunk by lowering quality. For a real reduction choose WebP or JPG as the output format, or set a maximum width or height. JPG does not keep transparency.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The compression happens in your browser using your own device, and the images are never sent to i40x. You can close the page at any time and nothing is kept on our side.
How many images can I compress at once?
You can add up to 40 images per batch, each up to 60 MB. When two or more results are ready you can download them all as one ZIP file instead of saving each separately.
Does compression change the dimensions of my photo?
Not unless you set a maximum width or height, or use the target size option and the file still does not fit. In that case the result card shows the old and new pixel dimensions.
