About Unix Timestamp Converter

This Unix timestamp converter turns epoch time into a human-readable date and back. Type a number such as 1700000000 or a date such as 2025-01-31 14:30, and you instantly see Unix seconds, milliseconds, ISO 8601 in UTC, UTC text, your local time and a relative description like 3 days ago. A button fills in the current time.

Numbers of 11 or more digits are treated as milliseconds, shorter ones as seconds, so you do not need to choose. Dates typed without a time zone are interpreted in your browser's local time zone, while the ISO and UTC lines show the same moment in UTC. Everything is computed in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a Unix timestamp to a date?

Paste the number into the box. The tool shows the date in ISO 8601 (UTC), as UTC text and in your local time, along with a relative description such as in 2 hours.

Is my timestamp in seconds or milliseconds?

The tool decides by size: values with 11 or more digits are read as milliseconds, shorter values as seconds. A 10-digit number like 1700000000 is seconds, and a 13-digit one is milliseconds.

How do I convert a date to a Unix timestamp?

Type a date such as 2025-01-31 14:30 or a full ISO string in the same box. The result lists the equivalent Unix seconds and milliseconds. Text the browser cannot parse as a date shows dashes.

Which time zone is used?

Dates entered without an offset are read in your browser's local time zone. Add Z or an offset such as +03:00 to an ISO string to be explicit. The UTC and ISO lines always show UTC.

Can it handle negative timestamps?

Yes. Negative numbers are accepted and give dates before 1970, with small values read as seconds and very large negative ones as milliseconds. The year 2038 is not an issue because JavaScript uses 64-bit floating-point numbers.

Is my data sent to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using the built-in Date object. Nothing is uploaded, there are no limits and no account is required.
