About Password Generator

This password generator creates random passwords from the character types you select: lowercase letters, uppercase letters, digits and symbols. Pick a length from 6 to 64 characters, generate up to 20 passwords at once, and copy the one you like. A strength bar shows an estimate in bits so you can see the effect of each change.

Randomness comes from your browser's cryptographic generator (crypto.getRandomValues), not from a predictable formula. Passwords are created on your device and are not sent to or stored on our server. For a good result, use at least 14 characters, enable all character types, and save the password in a password manager. Never reuse one generated password across sites.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a strong password be?

Length matters most. At least 14 characters with a mix of letters, digits and symbols is a good baseline, and 20 or more suits important accounts such as email and banking. The tool lets you go up to 64 characters.

Is this password generator really random?

Yes. It uses the cryptographic random number generator built into your browser and picks characters without modulo bias, so each allowed character has the same chance. Math.random, which is predictable, is not used.

Are the passwords I generate saved or sent anywhere?

No. Passwords are generated in your browser and shown only on your screen. They are not uploaded to i40x and are not stored; they disappear when you close or refresh the page, so copy the one you want first.

What does the avoid look-alikes option do?

It removes characters that are easy to confuse, such as O, 0, o, I, l, 1 and the vertical bar. Use it when you will read the password aloud or copy it by hand. It slightly shrinks the character pool.

Can I generate several passwords at once?

Yes. Set the How many field between 1 and 20 and press Generate new. Each password is created independently and listed on its own line, which is handy for temporary accounts or test data.

Does the password include at least one of each character type?

Yes. When you enable lowercase, uppercase, digits and symbols, every generated password contains at least one character from each selected type, then the rest is filled randomly and shuffled.

Should I memorize the password it creates?

Random passwords are hard to memorize, so store them in a password manager and memorize only one strong master password. Also turn on two-factor authentication where the website supports it.
