About Random Name Picker & Team Maker
This random name picker takes a list of names or options, one per line, and does three jobs: pick one or more winners, shuffle the whole list into a new order, or split everyone into teams of a size you set. Blank lines are ignored, and a winner is never picked twice in the same draw.
Shuffling uses the Fisher-Yates method with your browser's cryptographic randomness, so every name has the same chance and the order is unbiased. The names stay on your device and are not uploaded. For a good result, write each person on a separate line, and press the button again whenever you want a fresh draw. There is no limit on usage and no account to create.

Frequently asked questions
Is the random name picker fair?
Yes. Every line has the same chance, and shuffling uses the unbiased Fisher-Yates algorithm with your browser's cryptographic random generator. There are no hidden weights or favorites in the draw.
How do I pick more than one winner?
Type how many winners you want in the Winners / team size box, then press Pick winner(s). The tool shuffles the list and takes that many names from the top, so nobody is chosen twice in one draw.
How does the team maker work?
Enter the team size, then press Make teams. The list is shuffled and cut into teams of that size. If the number of people does not divide evenly, the last team will be smaller than the others.
What happens if the same name appears twice?
Each line counts as a separate entry. If a name is listed twice, it has two chances to be picked, so remove duplicates first if every person should have only one entry.
Can I use it for things other than names?
Yes. Each line can be any text: a task, a movie, a restaurant or a prize. The tool simply shuffles whatever lines you give it and returns the winners, the shuffled list or the groups.
Are my names saved or uploaded?
No. The list is processed in your browser and is not sent to i40x or stored. It is cleared when you close or reload the page, so keep your own copy of any list you want to reuse.
