iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. They are smaller than JPG, but Windows programs, many websites and most upload forms cannot open them. The new HEIC to JPG converter fixes that in seconds, without sending your photos anywhere.
What it does
- Converts HEIC and HEIF photos to JPG or PNG.
- Handles up to 40 photos at a time; download them one by one or all together as a single ZIP.
- Lets you set the quality. The default of 92 looks the same as the original for normal use.
Private by design
The conversion happens in your browser. The decoder, about 3 MB, is downloaded once when you convert your first photo and then reused; your pictures never go to a server. A bonus for privacy: the new files do not carry over the location and camera information stored in the original.
How to use it
- Open the HEIC to JPG converter and drop your photos in.
- Choose JPG or PNG and the quality.
- Press Convert, then download.

JPG or PNG?
Choose JPG for photos; it is much smaller. Pick PNG only when you need lossless output, and expect a much larger file. Our guide to JPG, PNG or WebP explains the difference.
Next steps
If a form limits the file size, send the result straight into the Image Compressor with the “Continue with” panel and type the size you need. Our guide on reducing an image to 200 KB shows how.
