About Zakat Calculator

This zakat calculator adds up your zakatable wealth and tells you whether it reaches the nisab and how much zakat comes to 2.5%. You enter cash and bank balances, shares and investments, gold and silver in grams with the price per gram, trade goods, money owed to you that is certain to be paid, and debts that are due now.

You choose whether the nisab is 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver, and you type the current price of one gram yourself, because the tool does not fetch prices. Use one currency for every field. If your net wealth is at or above the nisab, zakat is due once you have held it for a full lunar year. This is a general guide, so ask a qualified scholar about your own case.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate zakat on my money?

Add your cash, bank balances, gold, silver, investments, trade goods and certain receivables, then subtract debts due now. If the result is at or above the nisab, zakat is 2.5% of it. The calculator does this once you enter the figures.

What is the nisab and how does the calculator compute it?

The nisab is the minimum wealth above which zakat applies. The tool uses 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver, multiplied by the price per gram that you enter. You choose which basis to use.

Why do I need to enter the gold and silver prices?

The tool does not fetch live prices, so the nisab is computed from the price you type. Without a gold or silver price it cannot find the nisab and will ask you to enter one. Use today's local price in your own currency.

What does the calculator include and leave out?

It includes cash, gold, silver, shares and investments, trade goods and receivables, minus debts due now. It does not have fields for livestock, crops or other categories, and it applies a flat 2.5% to the net total.

What does the lunar year (hawl) mean for my result?

Zakat is generally due once your wealth has stayed at or above the nisab for a full lunar year. The calculator cannot track dates. When your net wealth reaches the nisab, it only reminds you of this condition.

Which currency should I use?

Any currency, but use the same one in every field, including the price per gram of gold or silver. The calculator does not convert currencies, so enter all amounts in your own currency.

Is this a religious ruling?

No. It applies a standard formula to the figures you enter. Scholars differ on details such as jewellery, debts and investments, so ask a qualified scholar or a zakat authority about your own situation. Nothing you type is uploaded.
