Remove extra spaces from any text in one step. The tool collapses runs of spaces into a single space, trims spaces from the start and end of each line, turns tabs into spaces and shrinks several blank lines into one. It also replaces non-breaking spaces and removes zero-width characters, the invisible leftovers that often come with text copied from web pages and PDFs.
Each clean-up is a separate tick box, so you decide how aggressive it should be. Does it remove hidden characters?
Yes. With the hidden characters option on, non-breaking spaces and similar wide or narrow spaces become normal spaces, and zero-width characters are deleted. These often arrive when copying from web pages or PDFs.
Can it remove blank lines?
Yes. You can either reduce several blank lines to one, which is the default, or tick Remove all blank lines to delete empty lines completely and get compact text.
Will it change the words in my text?
No. It only changes spacing: repeated spaces, line edges, tabs, blank lines and optionally spaces before punctuation. Letters, digits and symbols are left as they are, in Latin and Arabic text alike.
