About Compress a PDF to under 200 KB
200 KB is the limit you meet most often on job portals, visa applications and registration forms, where you must attach a CV, a passport scan or a certificate. The tool below opens with 200 KB selected, which saves the one step people tend to get wrong.
Most one-to-three page documents fit comfortably: the tool starts with the gentlest settings and only compresses harder when the file is still too big, so a CV with a little formatting usually stays sharp. Scans of passports and certificates are the usual trouble, because a scan is a picture; they get smaller but lose crispness, so look at the result before sending it.

Frequently asked questions
Is 200 KB enough for a CV?
For a text CV of one to three pages it normally is, often with room to spare. A CV with a large photo or heavy graphics may need stronger compression, and the tool will tell you if it falls short.
My passport scan is still too big. What can I do?
Scans are images, so they are the hardest to shrink. Rescan at a lower resolution, in grayscale, or crop away the empty margins, then run it again. If it still misses, try 500 KB if the form allows it.
Does compressing change what the PDF says?
No. Only the way images are stored changes. The words, the page order and the page size stay as they were.
What happens to the file I upload?
It is processed on our server and removed automatically after 30 minutes. We do not read it or keep a copy.
