About Compress a PDF to 2 MB
Two megabytes is the limit on many university portals, tender submissions and ministry upload pages, and it is roomy enough for a full report or a contract of dozens of pages. At this size the tool rarely has to do much damage to the images.
The usual cause of a PDF above 2 MB is a handful of large photographs or a document scanned at a very high resolution. Reducing those to screen resolution is invisible on a monitor and still looks fine on a typical printout. If the file still does not fit, the tool says so and gives you the smallest version it reached.
Add the PDF below. Guests can use files up to 10 MB; a free account raises the limit.

Frequently asked questions
Will 2 MB hold a long report?
Usually yes. A report that is mostly text can run to hundreds of pages in 2 MB, while one full of colour charts and photographs will come out larger and may need stronger settings.
My file is much larger than the limit. Will it work?
The tool compresses in steps, so even a large file is reduced as far as it safely can be. A very large file may still miss 2 MB, and in that case it tells you plainly.
Can I compress several PDFs at once?
The target-size tool handles one file per job. For more than one, run them in turn, or merge them first if the form wants a single file.
Is anything lost besides image detail?
No. Text, links and page layout stay as they are. Only the stored pictures are reduced.
